Businesses and RSS feeds

Using Google, I found an article titles "How Big Companies are Testing RSS Feeds to Circumvent Email". The article talks about how RSS feeds could be the next big thing for companies to use to communicate rather then email. It is a way for companies to avoid issues that come with emails such as archiving, spam, virus through emails, and full mailboxes, just to name a few. According to the article, big companies such as Disney, Yahoo, and Amazon are testing RSS feeds to send news to their employees. Updating email lists and adding people to these lists may not seem hard, but when big companies with thousands and thousands of employees need to contact everyone, it is not as easy as one may think. These RSS feeds are a good way for the employees to follow and get updated with news, changes in policies, and other information that the management want to hand down to them.  Their are technology companies, such as Macromedia, the creators of Dreamweaver and Flash who are using the feeds to deploy beta software versions and updates to their followers. Overall, I find that in this article, their is a lot of good that can come with using RSS feeds in big companies to avoid issues with email. It is also easier to communicate with all employees and it is still a young product that will continue to grow and will be used a lot more in the future.
